CAMELOT ESTATES

Richmond, Rhode Island

Project Description:

 Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. designed this residential subdivision in the Town of Richmond, RI. Constraints in the area included a wetland crossing, a historic dam structure that needed to be repaired, a historic cemetery that needed to be protected and development of a fish ladder for a fish species that migrates during the low-flow period in the fall.  Permitting for the project was received from the Town and the RI Department of Environmental Management, and included stormwater controls.

Project Description:

 

Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. was a partner in the design of the original school complex that experienced a devastating fire in 2018. The team was re-assembled after the fire to develop the replacement facilities and also expand on them. CE&C provided permitting, landscape architecture, stormwater design, OWTS design, and construction inspection services for this rural location adjacent to wetlands and an historic cemetery.

Project Description:

 Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. designed this 32-unit moderate-income housing development in a style that fits into its rural Richmond location. It includes 1,300’± linear feet of roadway, parking areas, a community facility building, a community onsite wastewater treatment system, a potable water system, a solar panel field and underground electric to provide power to the entire development. Stormwater drainage systems (site gradation and stormwater conveyance system involving catch basins, a dry swale, dry wells, sediment forebays, infiltration basins, and a subsurface infiltration system) were also included.   This project required permits from the Town of Richmond, the RIDEM for wetlands impacts, and the RI Department of Health for a community well.

 

RIVER’S EDGE CONDOMINIUMS

Project Description:

 

Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. developed this age-restricted condominium project in the town of Coventry, RI. Constraints in the area included wetland areas and 100-year floodplain. Recreational activities for the residents, including access to the South Branch of the Pawtuxet River, were incorporated into the project. Permitting for of the project was received from the Town and the RIDEM, and included stormwater controls.

VETERAN’S TRANSITION HOME

New Bedford, Massachusetts

Project Description:

Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. designed this housing project for veterans in the City of New Bedford, MA. Constraints in the area included limited land area, steep gradients and adjacent residences and City streets. Permitting for of the project was received from the City of New Bedford, and included stormwater controls.

GARDEN CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Cranston, Rhode Island

The Garden City Elementary School was reconstructed with a new building, parking areas, and grounds which included stormwater management practices to address RIDEM and City regulations.  Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. was retained to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of the site work, perform traffic engineering, obtain approval from City Planning Board and Zoning Board, RIDEM Stormwater approval for the proposed stormwater system, RIDEM RIPDES approval for construction exceeding 5 acres and perform construction inspection services.

COPART AUTO FACILITY

Exeter, Rhode Island

The Copart auto facility expanded their use by adding 10+/- acres of additional parking, which included stormwater management practices to address RIDEM and RIDOT regulations.  Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. prepared plans and specifications for the construction of the parking lot, obtained approval from the Town Planning Board, Town Fire Marshal, RIDEM Wetland approval for work adjacent to wetlands and for the proposed stormwater system, RIDEM RIPDES approval for construction exceeding 5 acres, RIDOT PAP approval for curb cut and stormwater design and preformed construction inspection services.

Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. (CE&C) was retained to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of the parking lot and the following:

  • Town Planning Board approval

  • Town Fire Marshal approval

  • Landscape design by a RI Professional Landscape Architect.

  • RIDEM Wetland approval for work adjacent to wetlands and for the proposed stormwater system.

  • RIDEM RIPDES approval for construction exceeding 5 acres.

  • RIDOT PAP approval for curb cut and stormwater design.

  • Construction inspection services.

CENTER CITY APARTMENTS

East Providence, Rhode Island

Development of affordable apartments encompassing three buildings that will revitalize what was a vacant 3-acre parcel of land along Taunton Avenue in East Providence.  Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc., obtained RIDOT PAP, RIDEM Stormwater, RIDEM RIPDES, City Planning and Zoning, Narragansett Bay Commission, East Providence Engineering and East Providence Water Department permits for the project.

TA TRUCK STOP

West Greenwich, Rhode Island

Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. designed the proposed redevelopment work for TA Truck Stop in West Greenwich, RI.  The site contains approximately 35.4 acres of land of which 12.8 acres is developed and the rest is undeveloped forest and wetland area.  The developed area consisted of an existing service station, an existing store/restaurant, two areas of auto-fueling stations, as well as a truck scale.  The remainder of the developed land was paved and unpaved gravel parking.  There is a small cemetery within the developed area that is untouched land.  The proposed project consisted of redesigning and paving the existing parking area in front of the existing store/restaurant. This project also included landscape design and permitting with the Town and the RI Department of Environmental Management.
