Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Highway/Traffic Design Group. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation projects for state, municipal, and private-sector clients while taking on meaningful responsibility and working directly with senior leadership.

As a member of our team, you will contribute to projects from planning and design through permitting and construction support. Because we are a multidisciplinary firm, you'll also have opportunities to collaborate with bridge, structural, site development, and environmental professionals on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and oversee highway and traffic engineering designs for transportation projects

  • Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates

  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders

  • Utilize CADD software to prepare design documents

  • Support project management activities, including scheduling, technical coordination, and development of proposals

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful projects

  • Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to their professional development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of 7 years of highway and/or traffic engineering experience

  • Proficiency with CADD software

  • Rhode Island Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required

  • Additional Massachusetts P.E. license preferred

  • Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment
