Commonwealth Engineers & Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Highway/Traffic Design Group. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transportation projects for state, municipal, and private-sector clients while taking on meaningful responsibility and working directly with senior leadership.
As a member of our team, you will contribute to projects from planning and design through permitting and construction support. Because we are a multidisciplinary firm, you'll also have opportunities to collaborate with bridge, structural, site development, and environmental professionals on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects.
What You'll Do
Prepare and oversee highway and traffic engineering designs for transportation projects
Develop plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
Utilize CADD software to prepare design documents
Support project management activities, including scheduling, technical coordination, and development of proposals
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful projects
Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to their professional development
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 7 years of highway and/or traffic engineering experience
Proficiency with CADD software
Rhode Island Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
Additional Massachusetts P.E. license preferred
Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a team environment
